Sea Stars is a fanmade Splatoon Idol duo made by Artsy Rose. They host Callisto News, taking place in Coelacity. The duo compose and perform music for their passionate home.

Diver[]
Appearance[]
Diver is an octoling, belonging to the coconut octopus species, at the age of 20. Her hair is cream, along with a pastel pink tint. She has two wavy tentacles that flow past her ears, as well as two long tentacles behind - they come to the end of her jeans, and are tied with light blue bows. Her ears are rounded, pointing down, and her skin is lightly tanned. Her irises show a dark magenta; her pupils, similar to the shape of Marina and Shiver's, are orange. They are lined with curled eyelashes, also similar to Harmony's from Chirpy Chips. Her teeth are alike to the regular octoling.

Diver's sunset-esque clothing consists of a short tank top, the same color as her eyes, and the sleeves of which end in a wave-like pattern. This motif continues on her flared jeans, a purple-brown and light orange. Her belt has a triangular pattern, colored light blue and light orange. Her dark boots have that same sunset motif, and she has ocean pattern on her right arm, like a glove, similar to Umi's same ocean-patterned tights. Her headpiece resembles a butterfly and has hoop earrings.
Her signature color is pastel pink.
Personality[]
Diver, ever since she was young, has always been a friendly but clingy cephalopod. Her extroverted nature has been with her as long as she's lived. Her younger self was naïve and gullible; but as she grew older, her trust fell down the drain. While she's as friendly as before, if you do her or Umi wrong? Her grudges last a lifetime.

She often blamed herself as a young child for the lack of polite communication between her and the other octolings, often being ignored. However, it was really just them focusing - she often prioritised being polite, in fear of others not liking her. This just made her a doormat.
She soon became tired of being walked over and underestimated - the maturing octopus became reckless, yet still learnt and became stronger. Her confidence grew, and so did her knowledge - once she escaped from the Octarians, her effort to grow became extreme. Umi was a big motive for her to become stronger; to protect her. Though, she didn't really need protecting.
Although she's very headstrong, if you make a good first impression, you're bound to be a close friend to her. She make poke fun here and there but it's all in good faith. She'd never do anything to upset Umi though. Her love for the Calamari Inkantation is infinite - and it's all because she believes it helped make her what she is today.

Appearance[]
Umi is a vampire squid at the age of 19. Her hair is a dark, chocolate brown with a cyan tint and a touch of green. Like Diver, she has two tentacles framing her face, and two short, webbed tentacles tied with ocean blue bows. She has pointed ears, going up. She has light brown skin, and has dark, ocean blue irises with bright, forest green pupils. She has webbed-like eyelashes. Her fangs are sharp, and are like the regular inkling's.

Her light blue crop top, with a poncho-like cut connecting with a pearl, ends with the same wave motif as Diver's clothing. She wears a double-layered skirt, a small belt in the middle. Her right leg is accessorised with two small bracelets, whereas her left has that ocean pattern seen on Diver's right arm, but white. Her sandals, covering the toes, have small pearls towards the front of the shoe. Thin, white ribbons tie around her leg, also. While they're unable to see underneath her hair, she has pearl earrings. Her headpiece continues the pearl motif, the centerpiece being a flower.
Her signature colour is cyan.
Personality[]
Going through the likes of prejudice at a young age, primarily due to her species, Umi grew up quite a sheltered child. She kept inside her shell, focusing on her own skills; vocals, music. She enjoyed every little bit of it. With a lot of thoughts and feelings bottled up, having a creative outlet helped her an inexplicable amount.

Once she reached the age, she got into Turf Wars; an absolute beast, she was. All of those same bottled up feelings flowed through her veins the moment she got on the battlefield, and after, they were all gone. Being an active, but rather cynical, comfort mechanism, she quickly rose to the top. Luckily for her, Diver was the same.
Once Diver crossed her path, she was dragged out of her rut - with her as her hype-woman, she eventually crawled out of her shell. While still an overthinker, she's a lot more confident; and she couldn't be more grateful. Excitable, aggressive, but a sweetheart, she grew to be adored by many.
She's not much of a poker face; as much as she doesn't like to admit it, she's extremely easy to read. A sensitive and affectionate soul, she's glad to perform to everyone who supports her.
History[]
Diver was always wanting to start conversations with all other Octolings. She could get distracted rather easily wanting to make friends. Most people wouldn’t respond, as she was either meant to be working or seemed weird to others. When she climbed to the surface, she was extremely excited knowing how many friends she could make. There, in Inkopolis, Diver found her love for music. Hearing all the different songs played everywhere, she grew to love being there.
Growing up in Inkopolis made her more of a messy person, but usually keeping herself as tidy as possible when it came to important situations. She still had standards, after all. Her cravings to be liked got her through some situations, but it never really got her any good. She knew a lot about things she loved, so it was a surprise when she would endlessly spit out facts that many people don‘t know.
She went to turf wars, not really knowing what to expect. All she knew was that she could make some money, and, of course, make new friends. She grew over time with her speedy and stealthy ways. She was constantly on her feet, making sure every bit was covered while killing others in the process. She made some silly mistakes here and there, but never learnt from them. She never really thought of the idea of ranked, but she threw herself into ranked. It didn‘t work well at all, and after that, she never played in ranked again, until she was older.
Umi grew up in the city, but after being called names, she felt very overwhelmed. She usually covered herself up, wearing gloves, putting makeup on, covering her face and such. Underneath all of that she has sharp fangs and webbed fingers. Her love for music and singing unfortunately failed, so she had to find another way through. Mainly using long-range weapons (especially the splatling), she became outstandingly strong. People no longer made fun of her, and she found a new source of entertainment and joy. She became happier but she was still not completely herself.
One lucky match, they fought together. Umi, with Diver’s help, destroyed the match. Saving and helping eachother, they were a great team. Diver went to go talk to Umi after, and soon, a friendship blossomed. They started hanging out together, and Umi shared some tips with Diver. They got better together, and built eachother up. Together, they felt more happy, confident, and comfortable. One day, Umi started singing out and about again. Knowing the bullies were gone, and she felt more confident, she wanted to do what she wanted again. Diver found her and caught her by surprise; they soon started making music together, and they both were excited to share their music. They started of with a small following, but with more and more hard work, they became popular! After many different creatures came to the surface, Inkto was built, and they moved there. Umi really wanted to move to Inkto knowing how many different creatures would be there. Being immensely popular, and by popular demand, they quickly became the next idols.
Now, they make sure to spread the acceptance of everybody, and they continue to grow. Umi tries to accept herself and Diver cares less about what people think. They both continue to support eachother and make the best things they can, including the best future.

- Diver and Umi’s names come together to make ‘Ocean Diver/Sea Diver’.
- Their Japanese names are Namu (Diver) and Kyu (Umi), taken from the Japanese translations of their species.
- Umi uses Splatlings, specifically the Heavy Splatling Remix. Hunting people down and charging a booyah bomb with the help of her teammates makes her feel powerful.
- Umi also sometimes uses Blasters, like the range blaster, but she uses them rarely.
- Diver uses a faster and lighter weapon, the Inkbrush. It helps her get around and with her energetic ways, and helps her get her energy out.
- Their duo name is a another name for starfish, and serves as a pun.
- Umi commonly uses Kensa weapons and gear.
- Ever since coming to the surface, Diver has loved going to beaches, which reflects on her solo ‘Washed Up’ and her casual clothing. This is also shown on her idol uniform as well, with the wave patterns.
- Umi’s solo also reflects her personality and past, going through past times and where she is now to inspire people.
- Umi, ever since Pearl’s solo career, has admired Pearl’s confidence; she also admires Marina’s knowledge.
- Diver, on the other hand, prefers Callie’s adorable and excitable ways, while also admiring Marie’s maturity and sarcastic remarks. Despite this, she still likes Pearl’s alikeness to her; she often finds herself wanting to be like her and/or relating to her.
- Diver looks up to Umi, especially with her battling skills. Umi loves Diver’s energy.
- The Seven-arm Octopus is one of the largest known species of octopus, and the Vampire Squid is known to be a small cephalopod, which determine Diver and Umi’s heights.
- Diver’s planned voice is Sukone Tei; Umi’s is Shouka Tori.
